St. Kanzien and Klopeiner see lake have all the facilities one requires, from activities such as swimming, windsurfing, cycling, jogging along marked paths around the lakes and through the woods, to ice cream gardens and a multitude of restaurants - many serving local specialities. There are supermarkets nearby, coffee shops with terraces directly on the lake, serving Austrian cakes as well as lunch and dinner and flower-festooned beer gardens, some of which offer music and dancing in high season.

There is also a disco/night club and cocktail bar for the younger or 'young at heart' members of the group. Many farms offer local produce for sale, much of it organically grown. There is also a bi-weekly Farmer's market - ideal for stocking up on everything from home-made Schnaps to local rustic bread, honey, vegetables and handicrafts.

There are also  large firework displays directly over the lake, hot-air balloon meeting, traditional Brass-band marches in National Costume, St. Paul's Monastery dating from the 11th century, and many picturesque churches to see. There are waterfalls, gorges, Obir caves - Austria's largest stalagmite stalactite caves, and a bird sanctuary with over 1000 types of birds, some very rare.

For the energetic there are mountains to climb, cycle tracks and quiet lanes to ride down, horse riding, golf, windsurfing and basic SCUBA diving, as well as many sites to see and festivals to attend. The tourist information office in the village has English speaking personal and is very helpful. For those who prefer just to lie in the sun with a good book, jetties stretch out into the lake, which is approx . 26 deg. C in summer, perfect for lazy swimming out to the raft moored in the middle. Keen fishermen also night-fish for Carp and Zander.

The nearest airport is Klagenfurt (Ryanair from Stansted). It is 9 miles away, with a regular shuttle bus to Klopeiner See, costing approx.10 Euros per person. Car hire is available at the airport.
